One of the greatest parts of travelling is the people you will meet. I'd e-mailed a mate through Airliners.net to see if he could meet with me for some aeroplane spotting in Marid. Not only was he more than happy to do so, but he, Javier, who is a pilot for Iberia & flies this aircraft, picked me up from my hostel that afternoon, showed me the good spots at MAD (Madrid-Barajas Airport), bought me dinner, shot with me that evening, saved & gave me a flight plan from when he flew to New York's JFK earlier that week & offered to take me out for a drink that evening.

Here we are though, EC-HQH, an Iberia A340-313X is rolling a good length of the runway before rotating beautiful shortly thereafter. A larger version was accepted to Airliners.net which can be seen here.

Gahhhhh...

What can I say? Seriously.

Love the horizontal bars, and the punny title. And... yeah. Holy.

I might rotate it maybe 0.1 degrees counter-clockwise, but I might also be crazy. Well, how can I not :+fav: this?

Had a feeling this might've been to your fancy ;) It's been a while since I've done a little aviation here so I thought what the hey.

But really, thank you, very much for the comment & fave. I used a building, which has been cropped out, to level this... but Madrid was strange for that type of thing. Thanks again :D Wheee!

What an incredible shot. I know (from our chats) you realise I have a fear of flying but that doesn't stop me appreciating this wonderful capture. Can almost see it speeding down the runway in preparation for "lift off". Well done ......... wow !!!! :rose:

Super capture, I love it. I can almost feel the rush and wish I was in the plane.

If not us, who? If not now, when?
:iconflight261:
wow, how did you manage to keep the plane in focus?
it would have been the everything blured or the plane.

:D The motion of the plane is so well captured with the blurry background. Great job, Sean. :aww:

If you don't know where you're going, it doesn't matter how long it takes to get there...

Awesome! :faint:
That's a fantastic shot. I love how you've managed to show the blurred background motion of this while keeping the plane itself in perfect focus. It really gives quite a dramatic idea of how first the plane is moving. I love how the ground just seems to merge into the background. It's as if anyone on that plane is beyond time... or something like that. ^^; It really makes the image quite atmospheric.
The actual details you can see on the aeroplane itself are simply mind blowing. I can count the windows!! :excited:
You can just see all the writing and details on the engines and such so well. I also love how that front wheel is ever so slightly leaning back, making it look as if the plane is going even faster.
The horizontal bars being used as the frame are a nice idea as well. They definatly make the picture look longer, and don't disrupt the flow of the piece.

Oh my gosh... I really need to get the digicam back from my sister and go to O'Hare. That was definitely good planning by you to contact that guy ahead of time. I'll keep that in mind next time.
