Letting Go by Cristosea Letting Go by Cristosea
I've been in the need of trying to find more ways to escape, I suppose I can't really go wrong with the airport and sunset though I when I did take this I actually don't remember feeling very relaxed. I feel more at peace with myself now as I look back on the photos from that evening.

Sometimes I just don't understand.

Cool, I was on a bunch of those recently. I know what you mean about escaping. It was total freedom flying away & travelling around from city to city. I really feel at peace since I've come back.

Oh how I wish I was there to see that! It has such a beautiful orange that looks almost golden. I particularly love the way the landscape and sun is reflected in the fusilage of the aeroplane (*is praying that was the correct word*), which creates an interesting sort of strip of land/sunset along the plane and on the engines. The angle of the sun in relation to the plane is perfect as it creates those wonderful long shadows of the tail across the body of the plane, it gives such strong contrasts against the orange. Now the composition of the shot is perfect, really brilliant cropping here as I just love how the focus is on the tail and you can just catch the 'Air Canada' along the side but personally I just love the lower portion of the shot because it's so much darker to balance against the smooth blend of orange across the perfect clear sky. Another thing I kinda like is how the roundness of the engine and body of the plane contrasts against the straight shapes of the wing and tail and also the harshness of the dark shadows are contrasted against the warm relaxing feel of the orange colour. I dunno, but maybe that's why at the time you weren't feel majorly relaxed. It has a silent kind of powerful feel to the piece that just in it's simplicity gets across somehow. I think I could be talking a load of crap but I know what I mean :P I'm sorry to hear you weren't so relaxed that evening though  I do really like the title, I'm not sure why exactly, possibly only because I know how you've been feeling lately and I dunno, letting go of things and relaxing can be a very difficult thing to do sometimes. Anyway, the only thing about the shot I'm unsure about is the colour of the title at the bottom, I think the white stands out a bit too much and it might have looked better in the orange but it's still a wonderful piece and really is so powerful. I feel so proud of you, and I'm so glad you put this up :D I love you Sean, so very very much  Make sure that you remember that if you ever feel confused or can't let go or relax about things, remember that I do love you, remember that I always will. :smooch: mwah.
(sorry about this book length comment.. gah I really didn't intend to do this this time! You don't have to reply :P)

:wow: the molten color of the sky justrelfects beautifully on the plane causing a peaceful feeling.
You composed this so well. I like how the tail of plane just draws your eyes up.

It makes you feel like you are finally home or maybe the start of a new adventure.
This is truly glorious Sean  I am just in awe of you and your pictures.

I just love the warm golden light in this photo. To me it adds a dimension of "Im safely home". I really like how alot of this shot is implied, by the fact that the plane is partial...Somehow you've really captured a feeling here....Maybe it's your passion for planes that is oozing from this shot:) Great work.

It's actually 'plane' :) Or 'aeroplane' or for the North Americans 'airplane' :)

The angle on the plane is just perfect aswell. Fantastic.

I love this photo. I've been an airport brat my entire life and it seems the only time I really feel at peace is when I'm near an airport, whether working there or just sitting near the runway watching them come and go. This shot gives a deep sense of peace, with the colours you've captivated in golds and yellows, it's warm.
I've been flying my entire life and could never get sick of your beautiful photos.
I must fav. this one!

Very Nice! I absolutely love the golden glare from the plane - I would love to see this picture MUCH larger, though! I find the border draws my attention from the shot, as does the title - why distract us when you have such a masterpiece to showcase? I usually go for 1024/768 with a 50px border, and a small sig in the corner. But hey, I'm scrambling for any suggestions for this beauty of a shot!

Letting go made me think of a few things - first of all was your inherent dislike for AC! No hope of letting go of that anytime soon, I guess... although what if Milton goes for the dreamliner? Eh? I think I may scream like a girl if I hear that he's ordering 777s abd 787s instead of more bland A330-A340-A350s. But all joking aside, isn't planewatching one of the most relaxing things ever? I enjoy it because it makes me feel closer to the rest of my family, spread all over Canada, but also so close to these departing flights that I could just pop aboard and escape to wherever I liked...

Lovely shot - again, I want to bask in the glory of more pixels! And post more of your Airliners.net shots, they're gorgeous as well!

Thank you for such an extensive comment, Mark. I really appreciate the constuctive crit and am thinking of resubmitting this a bit larger with an edit to the border :) I could definitely go for the 1024 but we will see :D

Actually when you mention about my dislike for AC and the 'letting go' part of this piece - it was actually more the opposite for me... as if I'm willing to give them a go again and I almost did as I'll be flying out to Calgary in just over a week but went with Westjet for the -200s. I've heard, that the deal is practically done with Boeing for AC - 777 delivers could start new years :w00t: I will fly AC for the 787 when we they get them :)

Thank you very much for this again.

There are plenty of good things about this, but a few great ones that make it stick out above the rest.

The composition is good of course, but I think it's the fact that you chose to shoot just the tail end of the plane that makes it stand out. In addition to making it different from other photos, it also makes it seem as if the plane is taking off instead of landing, making the concept of "Letting Go" so much more meaningful. The sunset adds even more to this because the time you spent with this (possibly imaginary) person on the plane is ending, along with the day itself. These things, and the light make the mood in this awesome, and the limited colors add to that meloncholy type mood even more.
And to top it all off, those reflections on the plane look really really cool :p
